* Marigold – easy to grow at home and provide a cure for cuts and sores and almost any skin lesion – they have antibacterial properties , are a good antiseptic and contain tannin which helps ‘not’ wounds together and speed up healing. (press the juice from the fresh flowers directly onto your skin).
* Aloe Vera – grown indoors as a hassle free indoor plant, aloe is a spiky succulent the gel can be used directly from the leaf. Can heal eczema, psoriasis and rosacea, cuts and sunburn.
* Celandine – the yellowy sap it oozes can be put directly onto warts (cover the wart in the sap every day for 3 weeks and it should disappear)
* Liquorice – a useful ingredient rather than grown at home, it helps to heal inflammatory skin conditions (ideally use a cream with 2% licquorice)
* St John’s Wort – the hypericin in this seems to have anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to reduce symptoms in eczema sufferers.
* Tea Tree – this oil is used as an antimicrobial agent in hospitals to thwart MRSA. Has anti-inflamatory properties. (Handle carefully as could cause dermatitis in some people).
